This house on the edge of Hampstead Heath required a complete remodelling and refurbishment. Retaining the character of the original property, Clifton sensitively went about opening up the living areas to create a light-filled contemporary space which is juxtaposed against our client’s existing classical furniture.
The original winding staircase and balustrade was restored and accented with a traditional runner. Other natural finishes, soft and tactile fabrics and an infusion of natural light are blended to create an interior ideal for modern relaxed living. Window seats were made for the kitchen and master bedroom, adding softness and providing a different place to rest. The timber flooring is another reflection of this natural, yet elegant style.
Whilst this beautiful and characterful home has a neutral palette it is enlivened by a diverse and extensive art collection which provides the finishing touch.

Window Seats
Designing a window seat into the scheme of a room can be a way of utilisng an awkward space. They also allow for the introduction of textiles and colour which can inject instant style into an otherwise neglected area. Window seats are always popular, providing nooks for reading, taking in the outdoors, and a different perspective.
If you want your window seat to do more that sit up and look pretty, put it to work with built in storage.
